5 Things to Look Out for in 2025

Cool Earth’s Impact and Global Climate Action

As we move into 2025, the climate crisis continues to pose an urgent challenge for our planet, but with it comes new opportunities to protect and preserve our most vital ecosystems. At Cool Earth, we are focused on scaling our model to protect rainforests, partnering with Indigenous and local communities to safeguard their land for future generations. Here are five things to watch out for in 2025, both in Cool Earth’s work and the broader global climate conversation:

1. COP30 in Brazil: Putting Rainforests on the Global Stage

In November 2025, Brazil will host COP30, the pivotal climate conference, which will bring rainforests into the spotlight. As one of the world’s largest rainforests, the Amazon plays a critical role in the global climate system. This conference will be a key moment for world leaders to address deforestation and support Indigenous and local communities. At Cool Earth, we are working hard to ensure that our rainforest protection model, which empowers local communities, is part of the conversation.

2. Scaling Cool Earth’s Impact in the Amazon and Congo Basins

With your help, Cool Earth is determined to scale our work where it will have the greatest climate impact. In 2025, we will begin to deepen our partnerships in the Amazon and Congo Basin, two of the world’s most vital ecosystems. Our goal is to increase unconditional funding for these regions, which will directly benefit local communities and help protect these critical rainforests from deforestation.

3. Climate Week 2025

Scheduled for October 22–24 in Milan, Italy, Climate Week 2025 will unite global leaders to advance climate solutions. With discussions on renewable energy, sustainability, and climate justice, it aims to foster partnerships, set targets, and drive global action for a sustainable future.

4. Growing the Evidence Base for Sustainable Rainforest Protection

One of our key aims in 2025 is to build a robust, consistent base of evidence to demonstrate the effectiveness of our rainforest protection model. By documenting the positive impact of our work, we will prove that investing in Indigenous and local communities is the most fair, effective, and durable solution to rainforest conservation.

5. Influencing Global Leaders to Scale Up Funding

To make lasting change, we need the support of those with the resources and power to scale our work. In 2025, Cool Earth will focus on convincing governments, organisations, and influential individuals to commit to funding and supporting our model of rainforest protection. By building strong relationships and showcasing the success of our model, we aim to create long-term support for sustainable change.

Thank you!

A huge thank you to our supporters for making all of this possible. Together we can protect rainforests, tackle the climate crisis and ensure a greener future for generations to come.
